WotC has a milking machine now (Draconomicon I)

On the other hand in 2e we had three books dealing with the deities of Toril (and they were ranked among the finest of 2e books by many) and 3e simply dealt with them in a single book (which was mostly seen as a misstake)

It's the german way of life (really, no joke intended). That's also why we're especially alienated by all this designers talk how cool, fun and great the new edition is going to be. Just way too much positive attributes for our mindset. You have to say "I have this new product you may like" if you want to get a German to consider trying it (and don't forget to sound bored of your own product). If you tell him "I have this great new product you will absolutely love" you're just making him deeply suspicious because you're too positive. :D
I agree.
Yet, somehow, my "German Way of Life" failed me with 4E so far. Something is different with me. I always suspected it, but never trusted myself on that. I mean, it would be too good if I was special, and that can't just be. It can only mean that D&D 4 will indeed suck and I will hate it later, making my memories of this time bitter and I'll never again enjoy playing D&D - regardless of edition...

Don't forget to add that our criticism is our way to express interest. Only something really good or bad garners no discussion! ;)

EDIT: Or in other words: Everything we don't criticize is either implied as being great or being beyond the pale,

"Ahem..."

*Looks at notes*

"Uh, two books about dragons where there was one. Terrible, terrible! Madness!"

"Shame on you, Wotc. Milkers!"

Was that enough German way of life? Now where can i preorder those books? :D

Well, personally, I hope they include some serious material in the book detailing ready made dragons, maybe some lairs, and some decent fluff and other tidbits that can be easily dropped into a game.

Yes, I know a lot of people hate it when they do that, but those sorts of things are what I look for when buying a new book. I don't have all the time in the world with family, friends, work, and other hobbies. I LIKE having options I can just drag and drop, so to speak, into my campaign. The fact that the books are split into different kinds of dragons gives me hope that there will be more of this sort of thing. Of course, a balance must be struck. I'm not looking for a book with nothing but pregen-dragons; I want some crunch and interesting fluff, too.

And, thankfully, I've heard it told that we won't be required to buy books that we don't want. An often overlooked option by those who dislike a particular product.

They've said that the dragons in the MM will not have to be built like they are in 3e, so we should have ready made dragons in the 4e MM. That isn't to say that there won't be ready made ones in the new Draconomicon, I'm sure they'll showcase some of their new rules with sample dragons, but hopefully the MM should alleviate some of the necessity of all those dragons statted up in the 3e Draconomicon.

That's good. Anything that saves time is appreciated.

Don't get me wrong, I like to stat up NPCs and Monsters myself, too, but I really don't want to HAVE to. If I don't have time, I want to have options. I can do the stats myself the next three day weekend. ;)

I'm defintely looking forward to the 4E Draconomicons. I'll get the first 2 on Amazon, the other 3 I'll probably have to order directly from Derren's fevered imagination. Does anyone have a link?

DUDE! Now we need crossbred dragon hybrids. Iron Dragon + Yu Lung Dragon = Iron Lung Dragon. And I won't even start on the things you could create by crossbreeding the Lung Wang Dragon.
EUREKA! My experiment combining the Lung Wang and Chiang Lung dragon breeds is a success!

BEHOLD... The Wang Chung Dragon!!!

This is your fault, Cadfan, I hope you're proud of yourself! But far be it from me to not pile on whilst the piling is good....

Wang Chung Dragon

Per-encounter: Strobe Attack. Cha vs. Will Defense. The dragon's features seem to flicker rapidly, causing seizures in all who view it. Ongoing: Stunned, save to break free.
