WOTC Mall of America Store doesn't sell RPGs

I was at the MoA myself last Sunday and I haven't been there since January. I strolled into the WoTC store to pick up Ghostwalk as an impulse buy (actually the wife gave the green light for the purchase) and they didn't have any RPG stuff other than a 3.5 display with about 5 books each. I though WTF? They just made the RPG area into more boardgame area. No Dragon, no Dungeon, no DnD, no Mini's...sad. So in the end I went to The Source (which of course is in a seedy strip mall :D ) my FLGS, 'cause they allways have my fix:cool: !

Those stores keep changing their business model pretty frequently. It seems as if they're desparately trying to prevent themselves from going out of business.

I predict failure.

I'm of the opinion having a gaming store in a mall is just doomed to failure. The WotC stores would have done a lot better if they had gone with building locations instead of trying to be a mall nitch store.

From what I can tell, nitch stores in general just don't last very long in malls.

Heh, I just bought the Kalamar Campaign Setting there last week :) They have a wall of D20 stuff like you wouldn't believe.

I'm sorry the WotC stores aren't able to make a profit being nerd-oriented, but god bless the old FLGS. I feel the same way about restaurants and bars...I'd stop at Bob's Crab Shack long before going to Hootie McBoob's #248.

You got that right, Stumpwater! More times than not the local tavern or resturant has much better fare, than the chain place with their flare.

I went buy my local WotC store today and actually talked to the guy working there about it. He said even HE doesn't like that the RPGs are getting dwindled down, and doesn't really understand why either. Apparently, the one here does really good with RPG sales even IN the mall.
