 What a difference, the most use my miniatures get is when my three year old pulls them out to tromp about my Dwarven Forge stuff. He particularly loves the "Daddy Dragon" (Red) and all his baby dragons (crested felldrakes). Sometimes they even like to have tea with the Displacer beast and the Dire Ape.

Heh, playing with the 'D&D guys' is my 5 yr olds hilight of the day, along with Warcraft.

Well I have all except 8 rares from the WotDQ series.
I have a bookcase with 5 shelves in which 1 of each mini is placed. These are semi sorted by type, race, class or wherever I feel it needs to be.
Ones I want groups of (troglodytes, orcs, giant rats, etc.) are in sorted plastic boxes so I can grab a bunch at once.
All the rest goes into "The Tub" a large storage bin that my 7 & 4 year olds consider theirs and daddy can borrow one if needed. ;)

shoot... i forgot to chat up JoeGK at Gen Con. i had a sport bag with a little over a thousand mixed minis with me. just in case i played a game. it sat in my hotel room for almost the whole con.

6 brass dragons, dracolich, platinum dragon, treant, owlbears, and so on...

i had them in the sport bag before the con and they are still in the bag after and will probably remain there until i use them. (only to return again after use).

they still get no respect from me.

I love you man! "no respect from me" is classic diaglo!

I used to have them on a display shelf, but with each release taking up most of a new shelf, quickly ran out of space.

Then they went into large storage boxes in individual sealable plastic sandwich bags, until that became even more overwhelming when I was trying to find a particular mini.

Now I have them divided by genre (Aberrations, Fighters, Undead, etc.) in standard paper-size stackable storage bins- #1791 on that link. I have 12 of them sitting on a table in the gaming room - it's right at hand, I am easily able to find the minis that I want, and it's cheap.

It's my best solution yet.
