WotC Product Schedule Update - 2003

Ghostwalk

Ghostwalk sounds more interesting than the 3 hardbacks being proposed for Q1 2004 IMO.

- Savage Species: don't know much, but can speculate content. Sounds like lots ECL for MM creatures. It may be immediately out-of-date due to prior MM II publication. Then two months later, FF will add more creatures not supported.

- Arms & Armaments: is this just more stuff that didn't make it into PHB? Does any of these change the 'proficient' weapons list of ALL the classes or prestige-classes ... or are ALL the arms/armaments 'exotic'?

- Fiend Folio: MM III by another name? with creatures that didn't make the first two cut?

These three books sounds interesting and they will have their place in the DD3E pantheon. They just sound less 'fun' than Ghostwalk ... imagine killing off a PC only to have them come back as a ghost of an opposing alignment ... bra-ha-ha! :)

i reckon the other fiends and celestials will be in there... those that aren't in the MM2 that is.

but the only one i'll probably buy will be the fiend folio. maybe the equipment guide.

as far as having two official guides goes, well they maybe official in terms of logo, but i bet no one other than kalamar fans will buy the kenzer one.

I don't think that KenzerCo will have problems in this regard, actually. :)

just a theory myself. but i won't know till i see the book.

i'm sure that Mark can tell us otherwise, but the impression i've gotten from people on these boards and other gamers i know is that the 'official' standing of the kalamar stuff doesn't mean that people are more likely to buy th kenzer stuff than sat S&S, or mongoose.

but thats just my impression...

Well from my point of view I'm much more likely to buy something from Kenzer than I am WOTC any day of the week...

I have about 8 Kalamar products on my shelf as well as the HM PHB and Q1..I've been very impressed with each product...

I can't say the same for WOTC..they are totally Hit or Miss with me...and barring the excellent FR products..it's been mostly misses.

The original Fiend & Folio was my favorite 1st edition monster book. Not only because I was the only person in the group that have it (so nobody could cheat memorizing the monster stats), but also it added a quality of strangeness of the creatures.

I hope the new edition will be up to the standards of its predecessor.
