Well as I am an ardent supporter of the Forgotten Realms I'm certainly going to get:

FRR Champions of Valor - Cos it's about time the good guys got a book, I've been wanting a book detailing organisations like the Harpers, Moonstars etc since Lords of Darkness came out and did such a great job fleshing out the villains.

FRR Sons of Gruumsh: FR Adventure Path #1 - Adventures Yay!! Orcs... erm okay, beggars can't be choosers. I'll get it cos I love the Realms and the last few years since CotSQ have been kinda barren of Realms adventures, even in Dungeon which is certainly more tilted towards Greyhawk and Eberron of late.

D&D Spell Compendium - Hmm could be useful, I remember fondly the annual monster compendiums TSR used to put out in the late 90's which included all the new monsters from that years products/Dragon/Dungeon and a few new critters in each book. I found those to be really useful, and as the creatures were always from a good variety of campaign worlds and articles, the books gave me a lot of ideas. If this is a simiiar idea but collecting up the spells then I'm interested.

Still all told, would have preferred a regional sourcebook on Mulhorand, Chessenta and what's left of Unther, and a nice fat anthology of adventures set at various levels and scattered all over the realms (possibly linked by a common theme).

From what you erroneously gather.

It has sidebars with adaptation notes. To quote James Wyatt, "Each race has a sidebar called "[race] in D&D" that addresses how to use the new Eberron races in non-Eberron campaigns. Those sidebars run about a quarter of a page, so you've "lost" one page... if you think that interesting new ideas about the role these races might play in a world is useless to you."

OK, I hadn't seen that. I had only seen that it was being pushed as a "generic" D&D book rather than an Eberron-specific book (brown cover rather than the Eberron-style cover), and I figured that they'd spend at least something like 25% of the book on things that weren't Eberron-y. But that's good news.

Eberron is getting a huge amount of support.
That doesn't mean they couldn't give us more. Then again, including Races of Eberron in the year's line-up, we get 4 sourcebooks each for FR and Eberron, so I guess that's OK. But on the other hand, Eberron's got a lot of catching up to do - both regarding 3e-specific stuff, but also considering the enormous amount of FR lore there is out there for 1st/2nd edition.

I am also looking forward to this one. Hopefully it'll be the first in a series of 32-64 page adventures. I wonder who's writing them. Anyway, I'm very happy that FR is getting substantial adventure support again. What with this and Eric Boyd's FR campaign arc in Waterdeep/Dungeon of the Crypt I think I might have a new Forgotten Realms campaign on my hands.

What is this that intrigues me? Dungeon of the Crypts? Campaign Arc? Water Deep? Please, express to use just what this is? Sons of Gruumsh sounds wicked cool by the way.

Whew! I don't want any of the books that are coming out in the last quarter (no FR regional book? BOO!), so this means more $$$ for Underdark (biggest FR D&D mini set) and D&D mini singles.

Boyd has written a three-part campaign arc set in Waterdeep for Dungeon magazine. They hasn't been published yet, but third or fourth quarter 2005 is a good bet ;)
Check out the paizo Dungeon boards for more hints.

I also am annoyed by Spell Compendium (particulalrly if it is Spell Compendium I). How many times will WOTC sell the same stuff to us (Builder Books, Complete Books, and then put all the spells in a much more convenient compnedium)? I predict they will do this with feats and prestige classes too :heh:

You can place all of them on your bookshelf next to your multiple versions of the LotR DVDs, and your multiple versions of the Star Wars trilogy tapes / DVDs. ;)

Bahh.... this means that Champions of Ruin is just a FR version of BoVD, and CoV is the equivalent of BoED. Most likely another book of crunch I'll never buy. I am tired of this kind of stuff.

As I recall, based on the comments made by the WOTC staff at the last two GenCon's, this is more likely to be a collection of villainous NPCs, such as the HALL OF HEROES, HEREOS LOREBOOK, and VILLAINS LOREBOOK were for 1st & 2nd Ed Realms. I recall Chris Perkins saying something about it, and there has been many requests for it over the years...

Looks like a great year for my wallet! :D

That's bad for WotC. Nothing looks that interesting to me. I may pick something up, you never know.
