"Greatest Hits of the last 10 years".

Plus, it has the added bonus of "advertising" each setting for the uninitiated. It's not a bad plan. Now, hopefully they can make a good adventure out of it!
This book offers a "greatest hits" for the previous ten years, then Infinite Staircase comes along to offer the "greatest hits [not covered in Yawning Portal]" from the prior 40 years.

Has anybody got a link to WotC's actual press release?

Nevermind, I see it.

Something I haven't seen before:

Descent into the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth is now described as a "free excerpt from an adventure in" Quests from the Infinite Staircase. Previously, it was not presented as being part of that book.

I was thinking that is what the first 10 level was going to be about. Maybe the free pre-order book.
There is no 1-10 Level element for this book, it starts at 10. The Shayyered Obelisk, which talks about Vecna, however does go from 1-12, so would work as a preliminary start...and came out just 9 months earlier.

That sounds right, but where was it said?

They'll probably do a limited box set for Christmas 2025/26 like they did for the 2014 books. But not initially, no.
The first time they said it was Kyle Brink om his apology tour, but they have said it again multiple times: juat printing the normal core books is too much logistically.

I gotta admit, I'm pretty surprised that the first adventure of the updated rules is for levels 10-20. Not that I'm complaining mind you, it's just unexpected.

And the posts from the past few days about how WotC has basically blown their opportunity to capitalize on the 50th anniversary by not announcing products yet (in early February!) haven't aged well! ;)
Technically its the second to last adventure of the un-updated rules.
