WotC Sept-Dec 05 Catalog

Not a whole lot there for me either... Fane of the Drow and Hellspike Prison are the only two that are even making on my "to consider" list. With Iron Lore looming large on the horizon, the rest really isn't grabbing me...

Yeah, as posted, "squick" means ... a more powerful "ick."

I mean, yeah, rules for badguys sacrificing hundreds to their undead god-thing, whatever.

Rules for spells leeching life from the unborn? Squick.

Oh yeah, this will improve the image of D&D for sure.
Just kidding.

Seriously, I don't think I need a book about manipulating souls to gain greater power.

Magic of Incarnum - introduces an entirely new kind of magic powered by souls; living, dead, and unborn. The souls can be placed into magic items or living bodies to give them great power. New base classes, prestige classes, feats, etc.
Son of a gun. THEY STOLE MY IDEA!

You mean the idea that is already written up in AEG's Magic? They don't have differences for kids and the unborn, but rules for souls as power are there.

If AEGs Magic book has the idea as well, then that was beyond me. I have been working on a very similar idea to this since 3.5 came out. Ugh.

Heroes of Horror - rules for taint and dread, advice on different sorts of horror campaigns, new base classes and new monsters

And let me tell you... It was actually a lot harder to write the "advice" chapters than it was the new mechanical features. (Thankfully, my background with certain other companies gave me a leg up in that department, though I had to filter all my previous experience through the D&D/fantasy lens.)

I'm really proud of the work, though, especially as it's my first WotC project. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing what people think of it. :)

Another reason I need to win the lottery. I'd buy it all (except for maybe d20 Cyberspace).

I'm not even close to getting all this year's stuff yet (and some stuff from last year). Oh well, one must pick and choose when on a budget. :(

I like the line up of new releases, a lot.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of Heroes of Horror. I have been playing Ravenloft since 1994 and I love just about any books that I can use to enhance my Barovian campaign. I'll write my first review on Heroes of Horror just for you Mouseferatu!

d20 Cyberspace and d20 Critical Locations, it looks like d20 Modern is at least still getting some love. Actually with d20 Past just released, that's 3 books in a year, more than the 2 per year they'd been giving in the past (probably the same or less in page count though, d20 Past was okay, but very short).

Regrettably it looks like the Star Wars RPG is still in limbo though. Maybe some time after the hype of the prequels die down Lucasfilm may ask less for the licensing rights, which means it's cheaper to produce the RPG, which means that it's easier to profit from and thus more likely for WotC to do. (Hey, we can hope!)

I know that I'm hoping for it. I'd love to see more Star Wars RPG supplements!
