WoTC should discount the 3.5 edition books for existing customers.

You know, you really only need the PHB if you're on a tighter budget. You can make your own monsters and magic items pretty easy.

Bah! 3e has been out for three years! Star Wars was revised after one year, and we didn't get a discount there. That's the only time I can honestly say I felt burned by revisions in RPGs, though.

You mean this?

If so, I'm in total agreement; it's my new love and I can't wait 'til I get my hands on Fantasy Hero. :D

Well, not exactly, but to be fair, I have heard good things about the system... not that I want to take the time to teach my players another system. They're [erfectly happy with D20.

Ok...I admit....I started this thread to whinge a little !!! My Bad !!!

Hi All,

Well after reading all the thru the responses I will have to admit that maybe I have posted this thread in response to my intial reaction to having to fork out another £60.00 for the 3.5 Core Rule Books. I must admit that I laughed my socks off at "Spitefull Dwarf"'s post as he really did summerise todays consumer quite well. So with tail tucked firmly between my legs I will just go out and buy the new 3.5 books anyway and not mention anymore how crappy I feel about having to do so.....cheers all for the entertaining and enlightening read....byeeee !!!:D

Just wondering. Was that a 'general' suggestion? I looked on the site, but didn't see any pre-order available. Did I miss it? Or is it just not there yet.

Do a search for Player's Handbook. There are a few options that don't have anything to do with D&D, but if you go to "all results in books" or something like that, it should be there. That's how I pre-ordered mine.

Walmart.com has a lot of good deals on game stuff, if you can find it. Generally you need to search for specific games, because their game stuff isn't well organized. They actually do have a gaming section, but then some stuff is scattered around in Books, Home and Garden, etc. It doesn't look like they know how to catalog all of it.

My method for finding gaming books on a non-gaming friendly website is to go to amazon.com or bn.com and look up the book. Grab the ISBN and then go back to the unfriendly site and search by ISBN. Guarentees you get the exact book you wanted.

Well I suppose there are other economics to think of but it was just a thought really and maybe a topic for debate. Unfortunately, we don't have "Wal-Mart" in the UK yet, even though they do own a big chain of supermarkets over here now, they don't sell the full range of stuff "Wal-Mart" does. Bummer !! even bigger "sigh" as I really liked shopping there when I lived in the USA. :D

It's a small discount, but a discount nonetheless. :)

You don't have to buy them.

My FLGS manager was having a minor rant yesterday, he has pre-ordered his stock of 3.5e but so far he has not had one customer say that they are going to upgrade, or anyone in the resident gaming group.

My old gaming group is going to stick with 3.0, they will download the 3.5 srd and have a look. Eventually they will created there own house copy of what they are going to use from both editions . Nobody in the group has any long term plans to upgrade.
