"Hi, my name is Olgar, and I am a WOTC Tool. I am addicted to D&D products, and have been since a very young age. I find myself looking forward to every new release, regardless of the quality of the product or whether I need it for my campaign. The latest catalog release has sent me into fits of anticipation, even though I know I don't need a Draconomicon or new Underdark volume.

"Please tell me I'm not alone, and if there's any hope for a cure -- perhaps a 12-step program?"

*Here's what my roommate would say*

Hello, I'm a WOTC Tool... I love D&D, but only WOTC D&D. I refuse to buy or look at any book not published by WOTC. It doesn't matter how crappy the WOTC book is, or how awesome the other book is, I won't buy it. It doesn't matter to me if the creatures in the Monsternomicon or the Creatures Compendium are ten times better than the ones in Monster Manual II. I won't buy them or look at them.

Silly Olgar -- the program comes in levels, not steps. :D

"Hi, my name is diaglo, and I am a T$R Tool. I am addicted to D&D products, and have been since a very young age. I find myself buying them, regardless of the quality of the product or whether I need it for my campaign. I have bought all of the 3e stuff.

I freely admit to buying the 2edDraconomicon and 2edDrow of the Underdark. And the rest of the 2ed stuff.

I also admit to buying all the 1edADnD stuff too as they were released.

Even though, I prefer Original D&D(1974) with Supplements I-IV"

"Hello... I'm a Forgotten Realms whore... and I haven't read a single Dr'zzt book... "

"I feel for you all ... and I fear my WOTC/D&D addiction is spreading to d20 publishers beyond count."

One wonders if WOTC toolage is a disease, if it's viral, bacterial, psychological, or other. My experience would suggest viral, as I acquired it from another, and just when I thought it was cured, I discovered it had only lain dormant.

My name is Dave, and you're not alone. I've been pretty bad over the years. There was a point during the early 90s when I was actually annoyed with TSR because they were releasing more products than I had time to read. It's funny to think about it now.

I've gotten much better, particularly in the past year so, in which I've been buying other companies games a lot more than WotC's (mostly AEG, Green Ronin and sometimes Necromancer).

Although as Olgar suggested above, it may just be laying dormant, since I am indeed looking forward to nearly all of those newly announced products. And I have to admit, I've been barely resisting the urge to buy Races of Faerun even though I have no intention of running a Realms campaign.

As for a cure, ask yourself do you really want to quit? I suspect not.

I'm a a TSR Tool. I nearly bought every brown-covered Complete Handbook series, thinking at the time it was cool to use "character kits." Now I looked back (actually over my shoulder where my AD&D 2nd edition still sit on the shelf) and realized how disorganized and abusive that game design concept was.

Now, I took up a personal crusade and seek out gamers who think that "character kits" is still cool and should be added to 3e ... then I verbally, physically and violently beat them up.

You could say I'm a Kit Basher. ;)
