WotC_Rodney's Wizard: Sleep, magic missiles, and dimension door?

I presume that they started at level 1? Interesting that he could take a crit as a wizard and be down to 2 HP instead of looking at the wrong side of a coffin lid.

Maybe it was just a crappy damage roll?

If the attacker doesn't do much damage (no Str bonus) like many low-level enemies, a crit has the potential to do little. IIRC when I was first DMing 3E one of the kobolds did a critical for an impressive 3 points of damage.

This sounds good. And sleep is still there... I guess the worries about too much blasty stuff and not enough wizardly stuff are unfounded - sounds good, sounds good. :)

And the picture... is funny! :D

Cheers, LT.

Many consider sleep a save or die and its still in, but there are no save or dies in 4e. I wonder how its working out, maybe sleep only works on minion class monsters?

That is what I was thinking. I've rolled a 1 on my crits far to often to be amazed by a wizard even a low level one surviving one.
