WotC's forum "Iconics" discussion thread (or "goobye, Lidda")

Logan Bonner had Mike Lescault post thread to discuss the iconics. I thought I'd point this thread out since I know that the 3E iconics are near and dear to the hearts if ENWorld members.

The text of the opening post in that thread:

The iconic characters (Tordek, Lidda, Mialee, and co.) were pretty prominent in 3E/3.5. There's been some speculation that some of the concept art shows iconics for 4E.

How would you like to see them handled in 4E?

WotC_Logan has specific instructions for how you should reply to make his data collection easier.

A. Choose one of the following:

- Bring the 3.5 iconics to the new edition.
- Create new 4E iconics.
- Iconics don't matter to me.
- Please get rid of iconics totally.

B. If you had to pick one race/class combination for an iconic, who would you pick? (And don't just use your own character. :P)

As this is our discussion forum, please discuss and support your response. Thanks!

Based on the feedback, it seems that the classics are going away (except maybe for the occasional cameo). The vote is heavily against them.

I think new iconics, built to showcase the new class abilities and new racial options, is a much better idea than trying to port over and convert the old ones.

I'll admit, I wont miss most of the iconics, but I would miss Lidda (And a few others).

I vote for keep them, myself, but it looks like I'm a drop in the bucket. To bad 'Keep some of them' wasnt an option.

Absolutely. Except for Lidda. Lidda must stay.

Who can resist Lidda and her "exploding cigar" picture in the 3.X PHB skills section? :D

As I said in the thread, I'd like to see a combination of new and old iconics. That meets your goal, but also shows how old characters can be reinterpreted in the new rules.
