The Iconics should be cool enough that they could scream, " Play me! " in every picture they grace.

I think your standards are a bit high and unrealistic. However, I agree that they should definitely aim for attention getting.

New iconics, please.

That said, take the 3E iconics and use them in 4E modules as NPCs, so they get to be part of the game, even as they're officially retired.

I think new iconics, built to showcase the new class abilities and new racial options, is a much better idea than trying to port over and convert the old ones.

I'd be tempted, on the very last page of the very last 3.5e adventure to be published, to have a full-page illustration of the BBEG of that adventure standing over the lifeless corpses of our heroes.

Except Lidda.

Here are my proposals for new iconics:

Delsenora, an absent-minded human female mage

Rath, an irritable dwarven male fighter with a horn of blasting

Cwell the Fine, a human bard with a penchant for getting out of sticky situations

Barjin, a half-elven fighter/mage

Arkayn, a cleric

Balto, a monk

Putting a picture of Tordek and saying it's Jehosephat the dwarf is unseemly.
