Ok. I haven't finished the Sil yet, and my Tolkien bestiary refers to Ancalagon as the greatest. That'll teach me to trust a third party references, then.

Apep was called Apopsis.
Lung is more than one single dragon, check OA for the list. (there are 8 or so different lung dragons in OA, each one from asian myth).

Sorry about that, but I can't help it.

I think in all fairness that Apep can be called either Apep or Apophis/Apopsis, you don't have to choose a certain one (especially as Apep is the proper egyptian name and Apopsis is the Greek). Also whilst i think that it can be correct to use 'lung dragons' to describe a range of various dragons Slickblade was indeed referring to one particular dragon. In this case Celestial Lung who was lord of all dragons and lives in the sky during spring and summer and the sea during autumn and winter. He (this individual) had a snakes tale a horses head and five claws on each foot setting him apart from the other oriental dragons who had four, unlike the other oriental dragons he was also said to have large wings I think.
He is a benign being that supervises the fertility of all plants and animals.
He is indeed iconic, iI would have included him myself but felt I had already talked too much at length, I instead chose Fei Lin as my oriental iconic dragon as he seemed more fun and unique to me than Lung.
Myself I would say taht Ladon has more flavour than the dragon of colchis but it's all a metter of personal taste![]()
