Would this bother you?

I have to say this though why is it gaming can bring out the weirdness in people?
There's a heavy social element to tabletop RPG'ing. Add the social hierarchy that has been implied (or flat-out mandated) by so many RPGs over the years, and mix in a liberal dose of geek social fallacies, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

I mean, you've got a hobby that appeals to a lot of people who may not be the most socially adept* and then thrusts them into a highly social situation... and their only guidance are bad RPG texts that says stuff like "The GM is god!" How can things *not* go wrong. :)

* No offense; I include my self here.

The player has decided not to play in any campaign my roomate runs. She didn't say why.

Sounds like Kalamar could put back on the table as something to play.

But it sounds like the other player does have a problem with your roommate at some level. It could be as minor as something about the way your roommate plays that is tolerable when playing but she's afraid would be a bigger problem when DMing.
In any event, it sounds a little odd, but not worth losing sleep over. If your roommate runs a good game, the other player will have missed an opportunity to have fun. Sucks to be her.

I think we have hit the core of the problem. Time to stop the mole machine! Did I read correctly that the husband and the roommate voted against this woman's participation? Well, she can't get mad at her husband (in public) and probably has this as an unresolved issue with your roommate.
