Might wanna double check that GFB spell description.
Heh as I understand it you can cast gfb then this spell, then a bonus action spell.

My comment there was because GFB is not a melee spell attack. I do, however, believe the restriction on bonus action spells is retroactive, but I don't have evidence on me at the moment so I can only be 90% certain.Heh as I understand it you can cast gfb then this spell, then a bonus action spell.

The exact wording says they can't be on the same turn without making any mention of order, but I admit it is definitely phrased less intuitively than it could be.It's not retroactive or at least it's not clear. I think they meant to have that but they should have added something like you can't cast a bonus action spell if you've cast another except a cantrip.
Hmm, you are correct sir. I'd want to see what the actual text in the spell says. If it doesn't specify the type of action, just melee attack, then it would work. You'd have to cast SB the turn before though. That previous turn you could also cast GFB, so there's that.My comment there was because GFB is not a melee spell attack. I'd still allow it, you need to stick your sorcerer into HtH to use it, so there's some built in risk.
The combo chews a 2nd and 3rd level slot, if you're blowing resources like that it should hit pretty hard. I don't have an issue with it.
This. +6 damage (8d6 vs 4d10), for a spell that's native 3rd level and melee range only on a sorc seems fine to me.@Zardnaar Hellish Rebuke at 3rd level does 4d10 as a reaction but has a 60' range, this being melee only seems to be okay as long as there is a dex save for half damage.
