D&D 5E Would You Allow This Spell?

Heh as I understand it you can cast gfb then this spell, then a bonus action spell.
My comment there was because GFB is not a melee spell attack. I do, however, believe the restriction on bonus action spells is retroactive, but I don't have evidence on me at the moment so I can only be 90% certain.

It's not retroactive or at least it's not clear. I think they meant to have that but they should have added something like you can't cast a bonus action spell if you've cast another except a cantrip.

The exact wording says they can't be on the same turn without making any mention of order, but I admit it is definitely phrased less intuitively than it could be.

Hmm, you are correct sir. I'd want to see what the actual text in the spell says. If it doesn't specify the type of action, just melee attack, then it would work. You'd have to cast SB the turn before though. That previous turn you could also cast GFB, so there's that.

I'd still allow it, you need to stick your sorcerer into HtH to use it, so there's some built in risk.

Well if you have already cast the other spell 1st then cast a bonus action spell y

It's for a hand to hand sorcerer build.

Theory crafting but fire sorcerer mountain dwarf or a divine soul whatever. Maybe a githyanki.

Assume they rolled stats slightly bigger than default array (16,16,14 top) 3 stats or better)

The combo chews a 2nd and 3rd level slot, if you're blowing resources like that it should hit pretty hard. I don't have an issue with it.

I don't see the combo being used that much but a fire sorcerer using it with gfb to "smite" with it is a lot more realistic.

@Zardnaar Hellish Rebuke at 3rd level does 4d10 as a reaction but has a 60' range, this being melee only seems to be okay as long as there is a dex save for half damage.
This. +6 damage (8d6 vs 4d10), for a spell that's native 3rd level and melee range only on a sorc seems fine to me.
