Thank you. So this means when rolling you have thrice more chance to roll a 3-7 than a 18!
Yes, but if you roll two 7s and one 18 and average rolls otherwise (11, 12, 13), your character will generally be better than with standard array or point buy.

Some MAD builds might not be as good, but most will be better.

Moreover you have just about the same chance of rolling a 17 or 18 as you do a 3-7.

Here is a breakdown for 4d6 drop 1:
Chance of your lowest roll being (rounded to the nearest percent):
3: 0%
4: 2%
5: 4%
6: 9%
7: 14%
8: 19%
9: 20%
10: 16%
11: 12%
12: 4%
13+: 1%

Chance of highest roll being (rounded to nearest percent):
11 or less: 0%
12: 1%
13: 5%
14: 13%
15: 23%
16: 27%
17: 21%
18: 9%

Median low and high rolls are bolded. FWIW the lowest roll I think I have seen in play is 5, but I have seen 6 several times. The lowest "highest roll" I have seen is 13 back in the days of 1E.
