Would you repurchase MM1 and MM2?

I just read the new article on DDI about the outside-the-stat block changes and additions being made for MM3, and I love it. In previous 4e MMs, it felt like the monsters were being presented as enemies or XP sources, as opposed to things in the world's flora and fauna. Gone was the flavor and background of MMs in 1-3.5

So now it seems to be back, big time. I kept thinking how much I'd like to see MM1 and MM2 rereleased to take advantage of this change. I'd buy them both, provided they were spread apart in release, not on the same day.

Hows about it?

I personally would definitely purchase new editions of the first two Monster Manuals, if they included the new math, the new stat block format, AND the added story. Even if the first two of those three would show up in the Compendium for no extra charge. Alas, I can't imagine the market for that product being large enough to warrant the resources.

Honestly I'd just rather the MM1-MM2 be redone statwise. I don't care about the fluff. But the MM1 monsters' stats need a readjustment. Complexity and intriguing design and less clunky, as well as damage/hp/defenses wise.

I get the feeling that this is already essentially in the works.
The Monster Vault looks like it covers both updated mechanics and more thorough story content.

"This essential product for Dungeon Masters collects the most iconic monsters of the Dungeons & Dragons world in one handy box and presents all-new variants, including new spins on such beloved monsters as dragons, orcs, and vampires. The monsters described herein are designed to be easy for Dungeon Masters to use and fun for players to fight. In addition to combat statistics, each monster entry comes with story information to help DMs incorporate the monsters into their adventures and campaigns."

I'm definitely picking this one up.

How about one gigantic tome containing all three books entirely updated? I'd love a million page compendium I could blow the dust off.

A codex, like one of those eight-foot tall ones that you need a stool to read. It leans against a wall, and contains everything ever.

MM2 is mostly fine. MM1 monsters above heroic tier could use an overhaul.

I'd cast my vote for "Sweeping update, along with major compendium change, with option to repurchase down the road." I hardly use my Monster Manuals anymore; I'm pretty devoted to Monster Builder and Masterplan for that.
