Well, it'd be hard to ban women since I am one.

Actually, when we moved and were looking for a new group I spent several months bemoaning the fact that we weren't getting any interested women. So my husband recruited a co-worker that had done on-line RP but never played face to face. She's pretty good.

Our best group ever was 3 couples. What I wouldn't give to have that group back again. :(

A couple of groups ago, it was all guys, and one of the guys felt very strongly that we shouldn't add any girls into the group. The problem was my roommate, who had a rather nasty tendency to sleep with them. Well, he pretty much slept with anything that had two legs, and a vagina, so my friend's concern was warranted.

We ended up allowing a mutual friend of this guy and my roommate's into the game. She played for a while, and apparently had the hots for me, which is why I think she joined in the first place. She didn't play very long. And of course, my roommate slept with her.

So, in closing. I think there are very valid reasons why an all guy group might not want a girl in a group, or maybe a specific girl in a group. But in general, I'm perfect ok playing with female gamers. Every other group I've been a part of has had at least one girl in it.

Of course I wouldn't. How else would our sodas get filled, snacks get made, and messes cleaned up?

In all honesty, while I wouldn't have a problem gaming with women in general (we even have a little twelve year old playing with us now), they'd have to be screened, just like men. Our group is more about hanging out and having fun than any real hardcore gaming, so whoever joined would have to fit within the group dynamics.

Of course, hotties have a better chance of fitting in... ;)

Not to mention the epic feat: Make Hubby Sleep In Doghouse

Honestly, ya know, sometimes she does have an unfair advantage. I mean, there's not another one of us players who could get away with calling the DM a "pickle-head" without some fear of retribution. ;)

And by frisky, I mean there was tons of in game sex. The whole game was a neat mix of silly and seriousness, we frequently tried to look for sexual ways to solve problems. I played a ferret rougish fighter, the elader of the rather oddball party. I really miss that game. :)

As long as the women aren't homophobes, I don't see the problem. We have several women who game with us (3 of the guys in our group - myself included - have wives that game, also), and most of the sexual situations that arise in-game come from the females!

But my point is that if there was a woman who knew the situation she was going into (a group that tends to have lots of gay, possibly furry, in-game relations) and she wasn't bothered by it, I don't see the problem.

I would turn away a woman from a game for the same reasons I would turn away a man (too annoying, too many people, etc.), but not simply because of her gender.

The B/X game I run is all married men and it definitely has a "guy's night out" feel to it (if it's possible to play D&D and make it feel like poker night, I think we've achieved it). I would strongly object to adding a woman into that mix, because I'm pretty sure it would change the group dynamic (this has nothing to do with sex in-game BTW, the closest we get to sexual innuendo in that game is usually whore jokes at the local tavern). Even adding another guy would be tricky (he would have to fit in with the group's personality and be OK with the "don't take anything too seriously" attitude we've all adopted toward the game).

The other games I run or play in all have female players and everyone is perfectly OK with that (including me). I think the B/X game is just one of those "things" where the chemistry is just right and it would be really easy to screw up.
