I've seen this sentiment before, and I really wish I knew where it came from. IME, women are no more or less likely to be min-maxers or hack-n-slashers than men.

My experience tells me that women are more likely to hack-slash. My wife is pretty much always a front-line fighter (or war cleric). Her sister like to turn things into pincushions. Meanwhile, my characters are often philosophers, pacifists, or diplomats. Heck, my wife's Brujah is still legendary for her bloodlust and low Humanity -- as well as her derangements.

To answer the original question, though, I can't imagine banning women, nor enjoying a game where women would "kill the buzz". Plus, I'd lose half my group and end up on the couch.

As far as I know, gender would not be a factor in exclusion from our regular gaming group. Not meshing with our sense of humor and fun, or erratic behaviors, however, definitely would be.

Just 'cause you're a bunch of sick bastards?

We have a wacky sense of humor, love to pick on one player's cleric (the jokes got really ribald when he "took a girl upstairs"..... ), crude comments, silliness or other strange stuff.

But then, since you game with Torm..... 'nuff said. ::runs away:: :p

This is Ironclaw, a furry RPG. There was my ferret, a rat sneak, a rabbit... torch holder, an otter with a big axe, and the DM had a DMPC that was a wolf mage. We also had a raccoon dragoon tagalong, also run by the DM.

In this game, I'm surprised that there was not a Gerbil.

It's like the last option was designed specifically for the Queen! ;)

However, our group has 3 women in it... over the summer, I'll be running a game with 3 men and 2 women (+ me, the Game Mistress).

I've nevger had problems with female gamers or any gamer based solely on gender alone. I prefer to play in mixed gender groups when possible. Though I have run into people I'd prefer not to game with based on style of play, all of whom so far have been male.

My only objection to a woman playing (or a guy playing for that matter) is if they were simply allong for the ride. I expect players in my group to at least attempt to learn a bit about the game, it's mechanics, and what their character can do, even if they don't make it themselves.

Generaly, I've had a problem with guys who want their GFs involved, and they are simply there because their BF asked them to be, and have no real interest in RPing or learning what we're doing. Never had that problem the other way around, but we tend to have few if any women in our group.

Who was practicing Threadcromancy anyway?

All mature gamers are welcome at our table. We have, in fact, one woman.

By mature, I mean "not children," because several of us guys are very immature. :)
