Quick question: I googled sonnet to verify I was thinking of the right thing (abab cdcd efef gg) and found that there is the English Sonnet, as described, and the Italian Sonnet (abbaabba xyzxyz). Which would you prefer, or does it matter?

I would never have known if you hadn't told me.

I just wanted to make it a little more difficult than a haiku. Please, choose the sonnet style of your choice. :)

How can I tell the glory of the code,
That allows all of our votes be heard?
Upon the board that all EN’ers call abode,
This person writes the line that counts our word?

The many systems whose truth we seek,
The many opinions of the populace,
The man the legend that gave us all a peek,
Oh how he wrote the code to count the race.

The many books that he must know the name,
The many authors and publishers too,
The knowledge of the wonders of the game.
The coding that makes our votes go true.

Michael Morris is that coding mage
Whose program will discern our sage.

Corrected Line Numbers and new sonnet.

Michael Morris, man of wonderment.
A system to count a vote was made,
The time to write it was well spent,
The groundwork of our counting laid.
How can we thank this man so great?

Michael Morrus, coder to the EN World.
We bow before his knowledge and his code,
We watch as his skill has been unfurled,
Can his flag of knowledge break the mode,
Our cruel appetite for competition sate?

Acknowledge his knowledge we must,
Our votes to his knowledge we trust.
Thank you for the upkeep of this site,
Michael Morris the man who keeps us up at night.

I think, to be in the running, you might want to make sure you get the man's name right! :D

There are men that make code,
And there are men that make pages.
There are men that are bold,
And there are men that are courageous.

There are men who, in life,
Make it easier for the rest of us.
There are men who, in strife,
Simply celebrate Festivus.

My friends, as you may have guessed,
I speak of but one man.
To have him, we are blessed,
So please rise and clap your hands.

To Michael Morris we say, in one unified voice,
You are a man of many wonders, and for you we rejoice.

I feel kind of funny using a form traditionally used for romantic poetry to describe Morris, but he's a great guy, so what the heck, here we go (hope I got the form right):

There was a coder named Morris
Who's name was often misspelled
He wrote the review system for us
And insured the ENies vote was upheld

He battled those who were bad
and righted many a great wrong
(Or at least we said he had
since it makes for a better song)

And when the server quoth '404'
Morris coded a solution for us
and it made the error nevermore
which is reason for this praise chorus

So Morris joined the ranks of the World's Worst Lurker,
The Potter, The Buccaneer Cat, and many another great EN Worlder
