Writing and Running a Con Game - How?

On the topic of what games are played, I know this is going to greatly reduce my Geek Cred around here, but, brace yourselves...

[sblock]It's a furry con.

Most of the RPGs there consist of Wold Tree or Ironclaw.

If I wanted to change systems for something more action-packed supporting, I'd go for Spirit of the Century; not only is it sexy, but it would prepare me for the Dresden Files RPG that I am craving so badly (and which I would be running at this con were the game out ;)).

Although I'm strongly considering not going, due to money issues. Or going to a closer one that's later in the year, so I can get more savvy with the rules.[/sblock]

So are you planning on
running a furry-esque game and switch things up by using a different system
? Or are you
planning on running a non furry Game
?

Glass houses, throwing stones, blah blah blah. No biggie.

Psion's advice is good. Design your adventure with an encounter in the middle that you can easily ax if short on time. That way you play the satisfying end, but miss a generic combat that wasn't essential.

Oh NO. That does not reduce your geek cred around here. It does, however, affix a certain icky quotient to the geek cred you have.

Running a standard system, but either 1) not modifying the rules to reflect the player's species, or 2) Just do some custom changes to the races so there's little benefits here or there.

Ain't that the truth. :)

But yes, Psion's idea is really sound. I figured this out quick when I went to a 4e demo, and the last fight got cut short because we opted to sneak up on some hobgoblins instead of moving along.
