Wulf's Lazy Days SH PCs

I note that there is no stats for Jori in gnome form... interesting...

As for the paladin, why take a cleric level? did you loose your paladinhood or?

Be sure to ask Wulf about the hospitalier, it is way up there in the "huge potential for abuse" PrC and isn't 100% clear.

I can answer for Kellen, he's taking the cleric level because when he goes to Hospitaler, he'll be able to up his cleric levels spellcasting rather than Paladin. And Wulf is fully aware of his intent... I'm not sure what's not clear about it, though I haven't read the PrC thoroughly myself...

My apologgies for not responding earlier. I had talked with Wulf about maybe taking levels of cleric or fighter while retaining my paladin status, and while he was open to that, he encouraged me to look into Hospitaler as a prestige class. (It's one of the very few he can qualify for with his stats and skills distributed as they are - I hadn't started Kellan with the intention of going to a PrC.) Taking a level of cleric obviously has great synergy with the increased spellcasting levels Hospitaler gives, but it also works for the character, who is not your typical egotistical "awful good" kind of paladin - Kellan is very concerned with helping others and protecting his comrades along with beating the stuffing out of evildoers. Also, as the campaign has progressed, it is obvious that there will be an opportunity for Kellan to be set up in a situation that will give the "stay at home and protect the hospital" requirements of the PrC more than lip service. (All this reminds me that I should put a character description up with my stats above.)

As for Hospitaler being being ripe for abuse, I do not want to min/max my character to the bleeding edge of l33t gaming technology, and I know Wulf would ask me to modify the character if anything about him becomes too unbalancing for what we're encountering. We're all just there Wednesday nights to have fun, after all.

In hindsight, I would have created Kellan as a paladin of Pelor instead of Heironeous if I had known more about the Greyhawk gods when I was creating him. Actually, I think the coolest would be a human paladin of Bahamut... but that's an entirely different character all together...

As it turns out, I tipped Kellan off to the hospitaler. It was a HUGE surprise (and a credit to his inner munchkin) when he took that level of cleric.

Kellan's player is new to the 3e rules with my campaign, and I was so proud of him for finding this back-door to power.

As it turns out Kellan is now "apprenticed" to Nik-- a cooperation between Kellan's temple (Heironeous) and Nik's (Fharlanghan). Sort of a military attaché. Nik hasn't really lorded it over Kellan or ordered him around-- but he can. While they are out adventuring, this is Kellan's RP downside to hospitaller.

I remind myself every week (when I worry about how I am doing) that when I invited these players into this game (3/5 of whom were total strangers at the time, other than here on ENworld) that I promised nothing more than big piles of dead bad guys(tm).

Which I deliver.

Sometimes I set up situations for some good RP too, which is cool, but that's more for the players to worry about than for me to stress over.

And with our latest adventure, we'll now have piles of big dead bad guys (pat. pend.). But that's a topic for the main SH!

A farewell to Jaag

I've finally posted Jaag above. Unfortunately, there will be no need to update him due to his third and final death by fire giants (read more in the coming episodes of the storyhour).

I'll be moving on to possess the spirit of an elven wizard. I'm suffering a slight "hit points shock" over the sever difference between a fighter with 16 con, and a wizard with 10 con. I can tell I'm gonna load up on the protective magics ASAP.

Any advice for improving wizard survivability will be greatly appreciated.

Updated Nik, advanced to 12th level...
