WW's Adventure/Abberent/Trinity to be d20! (Merged w/other thread)

I'm on the other end of the spectrum...I like the ST dice system, I think its superior to the d20 system and it works for me better. That doesn't mean I hate d20, but with the ST system I feel that I have more options open to me...and I love the sound of a scatterbome of dice dropping onto the table (Exalted does this very well :D ), and dice pools make more sense to how I think, and to me it shows a greater distribution of actual superiority without the rigidity of the class/level system of d20.

Still, I am very happy that the Aeonverse is getting a re-release, and as said above I don't care what system they use, as long as its easier to understand and work with this time around. And who knows, they may do something different with the d20 system that no one has done with it yet...just because they use classes and levels doesn't mean they have to have the same rigidity as other d20 games.

see, this is why i'd rather see these games based off of d20 Modern. it's much less rigid and much more generic than most of d20. the generic "attribute-based" core classes are almost not classes at all -- unlike the rather well-defined archetypes of D&D, they are more like frameworks of related abilities. i really think the d20 Modern ruleset would work a lot better for these games than starting with the PHB as their base.

Hey there,

Well, this is news. I guess with Adventure! back in town, this'll put the final nail in the coffin for Forbidden Kingdoms. That and OWC being quite slow in releasing support materials.

I find that sad because, despite it's problems, it's still a fun game and I like it.

I'm pretty happy to hear this. Trinity and Aberrant alwayss sounded like interesting game ideas, but I never picked them up. Being d20, I can run a campaign in that setting, or just pick & choose the parts I like for a d20 Modern campaign. Classes should hopefully be easy to convert (or have a conversion appendix, ideally).

This is great news. I really like both Aberrant and Trinity (I never could find enough people to play Adventure! so I never bought it).

Maybe d20 will bring some more people into the fold, heck I'll get Aberrant just to use the super powers rules they use :)

Aeon/Trinity always struck me as a really cool, interesting setting, and having no hatred of dice pools (or the WW system in general), I always wanted to run the game.

But it suffered from the same problems that almost all WW Settings have, the richness and depth of the setting requires the players to read and understand it to get the most value/fun from it.

My players, good though they are, simply will not invest the time in becoming familiar with a setting to the degree that they can make IC decisions based on their knowledge.

In Vampire, this makes the PC's constantly being the Anarch Caitiff's who don't know what's going on...which is pretty sad given the depth of background available in the Camarilla or Sabbat games.

It made for my Trinity game being a "Non-Starter" as none of them could get it together enough to even put together their options.

yeah, I have groups like that. I got around it with Trinity finally by putting them in hibernation on a Leviathan that was to reestablish contact with the colonies. They get there and the ship is shot up by Aberrants. Their sleep pods land behind enemy lines and malfunction. The PC survive, but with some aminiesa (yeah, I know that whole lifepod/sleeppod system would be extreame infrastructure, but I had to DO something.)

So the players end up behind enemy lines and fighting to survive. As they get closer to human lands, I handed out bits of info to them to catch them up on the setting. I even gave them handouts.

They thought it was a great "method" for introducing the setting, i.e. they didin't have to read anything unless it was in game. They eventually started talking about the game.

I got my revenge for having to do all this extra work for their lazy butts. I deliberately fed them misremembered facts, tweaked the setting without having to explain the changes and got a couple of people to buy the books.

Here's what intrigues me -- White Wolf has said "an all-new World of Darkness launches in August of 2004" (after they finish their Time of Judgement metaplot, which started in August '03 and will end in May '04, according to their press release).

Now, with the Continuum Game Setting being re-done as a d20 game, what're the odds of the new WoD being d20?
