I don't know if it'll go that way. Its just the impression I got after hearing about the story. Elf, takes up bow, hunts down enemies and snipes them...

The more I listen to the videos, the more I'm confused. "We want a new play experience" "We're describing the class to act just like a different class!" "Grave Domain won't be useless against anything but undead! But here's a bunch of abiltiies geared towards undead!"
Like, what? I feel like there's contradiction inherent in what we're being told.

Well, whatever. It could be just that these videos are crap at actually explaining the ideas meaningfully. We'll see soon!

Am I the only one sick of hearing we don't need X subclass just take Y Background or BM/Champ. If these people were listened to we would never see another damn subclass again. Subclasses allow for greater mechanical representation for a niche or flavour and this is what some of us want to see and consider just adding a background or flavourless mush that are BM/Champ to be boring or mechanically not far enough.

I understand your point. Thats why I normally never post such suggestions unless I think its productive. Cause everyone likes different stuff.

Having said that, I rather enjoy the way 5E lets you put together bits and pieces and form a "new" concepts. I do like unique mechanics when they bring something to the character, but as a whole, most of our concepts can be built, for example;

Elven Swordmasters: Low level, dueling fighting style, Feat: Martial Adept (Standard Swordmaster Maneuvers: Evasive Footwork, Precision Attack, Riposte.) Higher level, more commitment = levels in Battle Master

Nightblades: Rogue/Shadow Monk

Witches: Warlock base, access to druid spells, normally Pact of the Tome.

But, I agree there are mechanical voids, artificing, imbuing arrows or weapons, psionics, spellfire type mechanic, etc. are some of mine.

The devs seem to be more than happy as always to add new spells but not maneuvers. Battle Master would have more flavour and out of combat support if it had manouvers that affected skills. eg Parlay you can add 1SD to a persuasion or deception check, Recon add 1SD to Stealth or Perception Check, Warrior Philosopher add 1 SD to 1 proficient Knowledge check, etc. These sorts of maneuvers alongside battle type manouvers would greatly increase both Battle Master Flavour and out of combat support.
