XGtE Arcane Archer
Seeking Arrow Questions:

1. Range:
Normal range for an arrow fired from a longbow is 150 ft.
Long range for an arrow fired from a longbow is 600 ft.
"Within the weapon's range" seems to indicate when -using her longbow- my AA gets the full 600 ft to hit her target.

2a. Damage
"As if hit by the arrow"
Does that mean 1d8 or 1d8 plus Dex mod or 1d8 plus spell casting mod?
I ask because there is no attack roll and this arrow is magically zipping around corners.

2b. Damage
Successful save yields only half damage
Is this half of 1d8 Arrow plus 1d6 force or just half the 1d6 F; and if dex/int mod does apply is it also halved?

You would get the full distance of 600 ft. It does damage as if they were hit by the arrow, meaning an attack, so it would be the die + dex mod. The save would half all the damage by type, which is actually better for them, because odd results are rounded down (so half 1d8+Dex Piercing and half 1d6 Force).

You wouldn't happen to know where it specifies that when you halve, you halve by type instead of total, would you? Because that's news to me.

Anytime you take damage you do it by type, because of immunity/resistance/vulnerability, plus any modifiers like the Heavy Armor Mastery feat. If the target had vulnerability to force damage, for example, on a save they would take half the piercing damage, but the full amount of the force (since doubling half). If the target had resistance to piercing damage, on a save they would take a quarter of the piercing damage (half of half) and half of the force damage.

The DM is free to interpret this any way they see fit, of course, so long as they're aware of the potential confusion if those aspects get involved.

Edit: you can find it in the Sage Advice compendium, where they discuss damage immunity/resistance/vulnerability, if you're looking for a source of clarification.

It does appear that I had a brain fart earlier, because I should have been able to think that through.

Thank you for the reply though!
