XP and Leveling

So what do we know (if anything) about the 4E experience progression charts and what you gain at each level?

Is the progression chart unified for all classes again, like d20? How much exp to gain 2nd lvl? With a kobold being worth 100xp, it seems like the old xp requirement of 1000xp would be a bit overgenerous, but eould something in the neighborhood of 10,000xp be overdoing it?

We know we gain a set number of hp per level, what else?

Edit: Anyone want to take a crack at what the pregens will look like at 2nd level?

IIRC someone indicated fairly early after the 4e announcement that WotC were aiming for 10-12 encounters per "level-up". Less than 3e to account for the fact that there are 30 levels rather than 20, but not so few that levelling up is rapid.

That seems to be backed up by the suggestion that Keep on the Shadowfell contains approx. 30 encounters that PCs are "expected" to face (ie. not counting all the side stuff you might miss).*

* Source: WotC podcast 20. It may have been 40 encounters (which would screw with my theory), so someone else may want to doublecheck my memory.

I'd be shocked if the leveling rate were not unified across the classes. Also, I bet that 1000xp is still the start of second level. If an on-level kobald is worth 100xp, and there should be 1 kobald for every party member, then I suspect that you need to divide the total xp by the number of party members. So an on-level fight with an equal number of kobalds at first level will get you 100xp. If there's about 10 encounters to a level, then you'll hit 2nd level with 1000xp.

Wow, no takers on this?

Crunchmasters, where have you gone....? :(
:p

Well they'll get a +1 to all attacks, defenses and skill checks. More hitpoints which are probably guessable based on the Rogue preview. The thing we know nothing about is the power progression I'm afraid!

With XP being used for leveling and leveling only, I think that you can change the XP tables at will to suit your game anyway.
