XP Pro SP2: Validation Failure?! What the...?!?

It's usually pretty easy -- the times I've had to do it its never taken more than a few minutes. Also, check out their WGA support forum, including this link to their FAQ. It may save you some time on the phone jumping through hoops.

Okay, gang, now it is getting wierd. As suggested to me from a techie I pasted the following in RUN option under the start menu, %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A in order to bring me to the validation process.
Here is the thing: Windows says my software has already been validated!
In addition: I was prompted to download and install 17 security updates as of yesterday. Now if my copy was pirated then MS would shut down the attempt and tell me I have an invalid copy. Guess what? Not only was I able to download said 17 updates but they also installed without a hitch.
And yet I still get the "You have a pirated copy." Can anyone figure this out??

Anyway, it seems this is a problem with Windows (dis)Advantage activation and there is a loooonnnnngggg process of going through hoops to undo its self-induced mess.I didn't know Cthulu was into iPods! :\ You know, we keep reading how the Elder Gods will return someday and re-conquer the earth. iPods are a foreshadowing!
Your install sounds hosed. In the future you may want to look at disc cloning software. Once you have Windows XP working, make a clone, then you can reinstall in matter of minutes instead of hours.

As for the iPod, that sounds appropriate. i is an imaginary number, so it could stand for anything including Cthulhu, "CthulhuPod, the best digital music player for bizarre cultists." It has a perfect zing.
