Xyber 9 - anyone seen it and think its a good setting?

The world of Terrana lies in ruins, its great past lost in a present of perpetual war. When Jack, a young orphan, reactivates the last of the thinking machines, Xyber 9, he becomes the hope of a leader that will lead the people to peace.

For those who don't know it Xyber 9 presents a World modeled on a Medieval 'Fantasy' Society (two warring Kings, a powerful Scorcerer and desperate peasants) along with advanced machines (Tank-Golems, Speeder Bikes, Personal Hovercraft etc)

Anyway underground in various locked vaults and hidden 'ruins' are traces of the Wonders of the Ancients - hi-tech computer systems, robots, Enclosed Agri-dome Gardens, weapons etc

Anyone done anything similar? Its not as Hi-tech as Dragonstar etc, and infact runs very much like traditional 'swashbuckler' fantasy except for the Machine-Mounts and techno-Magic items.

Could it be done with straight DnD rules or would you use something else

I'd say that all you really need would be some clever new items and some firearms rules and you'd be set. Pick up the Dragonstar setting and muck around with that and that's all you need, at least from what I've seen of the show.
