D&D 5E Yahtzee Fighter?

i thought about it a bit, and came up with an idea, you would roll say 4d6 at lower levels and adding an extra dice every couple levels, no rerolls, but you could choose to keep any dice not used from turn to turn if you are fighting the same opponent, and if you are not, you have to reroll all of the dice.

this would remove the added downtown of picking which dice to reroll, while maintaining some sort of choice, in HEMA, there are some tricks to bait your opponent into favorable position in order to execute certain techniques, so keeping some of the dice not used would kind of simulate that. having to reroll everything when you target another opponent because you can't possibly have baited the opponent prior to first contact, and also removes any chance of fighting a mook until a very desirable result is rolled, and then charge to kill the boss.

techniques cand be triggered off of things like pairs, triples, straights of 3-6, 3 odd, 3 even, or even single, double, or triple of a specific number, etc
