Cait Sith examines the bobcat for a moment, and then, with a glance around the area forother dangers, he proceeds once more down the trail

The bobcat is quite skinny and you notice now for the first time the absence of small animals. Apparently the bobcat was driven by hunger to attack you. Continuing down the trail Cait notices the continued absence of animals and the incredible silence.

From far ahead Cait hears a gigantic BANG and then quiet returns again...

 

[Wicht]

Cait Sith picks up his pace. Moving more quickly down the path he tries to scan the sides of the path for life or items of interests as he moves along.

 

[tleilaxu]

Cait walks for another 10 minutes or so when he hears another CRACK!

As Cait continues he sees the area is strewn with boulders and rocks of various size. There is still no sign of an animal life. As Cait walks he sees something very strange. A boulder about 2 feet in diameter flies over his head and crashes behind him about 20 feet, smashing into the side of the path andn sending small shards in every direction. Dust from the impact rises in a cloud and from up ahead Cait hears a bit of laughing

Good one! That was the farthest yet, but watch this...

 

[Wicht]

Cait Sith reasons that if the boulder went over his head and whoever was lobbing it was going for distance, then getting closer to the voices should make him safer then retreating.

Having thus reasoned, Cait moves forward, more carefully now, trying to see who is throwing the rocks before they manage to see him.

 

[tleilaxu]

As Cait creeps forward he sees another rock fly of to his left, crashing into another rock face. Cait hears laughter and wooping.

Peeping over a group of rocks Cait sees a strange sight.

Two men in yellow robes are passing a flask back and forth and laughing. One of them is holding a crystalline sphere. Behind the two men there is a large 35 foot tall statue of rocks in the shape of a human. Cait is startled but not entirely surprised when one of the men grasps the sphere and jerks it toward the statue.

That one there! Pick it up!

The man closes his eyes and bows his head. As he does so the sphere begins to glow and the rocks grind over one another in an imitation of human movement. The creature grasps a boulder. As the companion without the sphere takes a swig from the flask, the man punches forward with his fist!

Throw!

The rock man flings the boulder into the air, where it smashes into pieces. The men burst into laughter...

 

[Wicht]

Cait ponders this strange sight.

"Friend or foe?" thinks Cait Sith to himself, "That is the question."

He decides to hide for a little longer in order to listen in on their conversation and to try and determine what sort of men they are.

 

[tleilaxu]

Tired from their antics, the two men sit down on a boulder and stretch out... Looking at the sky, the plants around them, etc.

This is boring one of them says as he takes another swig from the flask.

The rock man stands completely unmoving.

Cait notices that each of the two men wear a headband with the symbol for Meng Huo's kingdom on it.

 

[Wicht]

As the men relax, Cait Sith steps out from his hiding place and approaches them boldly.

"Greetings," says Cait, with a small bow, "I come with a message for your master."

 

[tleilaxu]

For a second the men just stare at Cait in surprise. Then, looking toward one another the one without the sphere jumps up and runs back to some sort of pack of supplies while the one with the sphere raises it at the rock man.

Kill! he says, pointing at Cait...
