The stairs go down about ten feet and then hit a landing about ten feet wide and five feet deep. More stairs go down from the landing to the south.

The stairs go down about another fifteen feet and then end at a solid wood door.

No traps are noticable, but there certainly seem to be voices on the other side. It is difficult however to make out what they are saying.

There are three male orcs sitting at a table on the west wall chewing on the leg of some large animal (At least Sharlea is assuming it was an animal) and chatting with each other.

They stop talking as Sharlea enters the room.

"Criminey!" says one, "Its female!"

"Worst kind." grumbles another. All three have their hands on their swords.

"You dislike females?", Sharlea asks. "You don't know how true you speak when you say I am the worst kind. What is your purpose here and what is this place?"

One of the orcs sighs as he stands and readies his sword.

"We is the second line of defense for the tribe of the iron sword, the first line being those poor gits you likely slew upstairs. We are to fight any unauthorized intruders into the lair in exchange for free room and board. We three are specifically here too hold you up a bit while the hoard on the other side gets ready for you."

"Its been nice knowing you Jukl," says one of the other orcs to the third orc and they shake hands as they stand and ready their swords.

Sharlea redies her weapons and says, "Well then, go right ahead. You first, I insist. Pretty big horde on the other side?"

"Close to a hundred of us not counting the womenfolk," says one of the orcs, "What I don't see is why we don't just all gang up on her at once?"

"Cause the chief is a traditionalist." grumbles another.

"Tradition will be the death of me yet." says his friend.

Sharlea is so caught up in their attitude she almost fails to see the third one swinging at heras the other two talk. As she reacts to the high swinging blow raining down at her head, the other two join in the fight. They may be pessimists, but they are violently so, and Sharlea is hard pressed.
