I don't understand why they bothered saying that spell trigger and spell completion items require a standard action to activate.
"They require a standard action, unless they activate a spell, in which case the activation time is the casting time of the spell."
But spell trigger and spell completion items always activate a spell. It's what they do. It's all they do.
So saying "they require a standard action" is completely misleading.
... unless there are situations where the activation time is not the casting time of the spell, like, say, feather fall.
