You have been removed from this thread.

I was clicking on a notification message in regards to a thread I posted to a couple of days ago, about eliminating Eastern flavor in a D&D game. However, I am unable to view the thread, instead I get the message, "You have been removed from this discussion."

That sounds like moderation of some kind, but unfortunately, since I cannot view the thread, I have no idea what the moderator comments were. Is this intended behavior by the software, or was it merely intended that I be unable to post?

err.. looking further in the thread, there is a moderator message in there. but i don't know the details (nor care to bother reading lots just to figure it out). So I guess I'll let you figure it out with the moderators (was just trying to help in case it wasn't a moderation issue but infact accidently clicking the unsubrcibe link or something :) )

From the moderator posts you were personally removed from the thread before it was subsequently closed, so that is indeed what your message states.

I think the purpose of not letting you read it at all is to prevent the frustration that would be caused by seeing people respond to you, but being unable to reply. Thus, they remove you from the thread entirely so that you can truly move on from the thread in question.

As for any further moderation type questions, it's generally requested that you discuss it privately with the moderators.

But can't you simply log out, then read the thread? Alternatively, use a proxy if the ban is ip-based.

Assuming "yes", what's then the point?

To me, this is an overly zelous implementation. (Not blaming the mods, blaming the forum software for implementing the lock-out in this way that only causes frustration)

Much better to simply disallow posting in that particular thread.

pawsplay, I'm the one that threadbanned you and the moderator that ultimately closed the thread at the request of the OP. I got your PM about it and responded. Given how the boards have been running the last few days I'm hoping that the message got back to you. If you have any further questions then please feel free to ask.
