Let's see... every class has resource management, but it doesn't carry over from one encounter to the next... warriors play very differently depending on which weapon they use... some classes specialize in moving past enemy defensive lines to strike vulnerable targets... multiclass characters are viable and typically use synergistic combinations of skills rather than filling two roles poorly... spellcasters get an unlimited supply of minor enemy-zapping in addition to resource-consuming spells... gaining a level powers up your existing skills rather than replacing them with almost-the-same-but-better versions...

You might be on to something. ;)
Or not.

Convergent evolution is only the process whereby organisms, not closely related, independently evolve similar traits.

I opine that game designers and game players are closely related and dependently evolve similar traits.

The WotC guys seem like they shower at least monthly, so I'm not sure if the traits are at all similar. Plus, isn't 30 years for an organism with a 20 yr generation cycle a little short for evolutionary processes?

Assuming you mean WoW and D&D Designs? Yeah they're related because they fill the same niche and descend from the same roots.

So, you are claiming that DND players do not shower at least monthly?

I was talking about the similarities between game designers and game players, not WotC designers and WOW players. ;)

Only for biological evolution, not cultural evolution. Cultural and social evolution is constantly evolving and changes often occur virtually overnight.
