Assuming you are creating a new character, and
assuming that you DO roll your stats, and
assuming you DID roll a nat-3...
...what is your initial reaction?

I'll add more options as I think of them (and as people start commenting.) This is just for fun, nobody panic!

One time I was rolling up a new character, and rolled a nat-5...not quite a 3, but still pretty low. I don't remember what my other stats were, so they were probably mediocre. I must have been in a weird mood, because I decided to keep that nat-5, and I decided to put it in Dexterity of all things.

To hear some people on the Internet, this was probably the worst thing I could ever do because OpTiMiZaTiOn or whatever, but honestly? It really wasn't as big of a deal as they make it sound. It ended up being one of my more interesting characters. I decided that I was originally a halfling who had been killed in a farm accident and reincarnated as a goliath. He was really clumsy and uncoordinated because he was still getting used to his new "powerful build" body.

Low rolls are a gift, people. I accept them with gratitude.

I've had characters with low stats, and didn't mind it. Interesting role-playing opportunities and all that. Back in the Basic/1e days, having at least one really low stat was very common if you used the rolling techniques outlined in the rules. But as a DM now I never use dice rolls for stat generation, because most players see such a character as a disaster, and it's been my experience that uneven distribution of ability scores among a group can breed resentment between the players. I mean, look at all the threads in this forum that argue that having 1 point less of stat modifier than the "optimum" makes a character not viable.
