All the presented spells are good and useful, but the most used spell seems to be "Cat`s Grace", at least in our campaign. Bump your AC and your ranged attack values...

Melf's Acid Arrow will always have a soft spot in my heart, now all's that's needed are called shot rules for some acidic goodness!

You really can't beat invisibility (well, I guess you can with improved invisibility later)

... although I've found that Protection from Arrows can be a lifesaver. On the 3rd level poll, someone voted for Web.

spells

Well. Web, Cat's grace, Bull's strength... Endurance is very important... Agannazars scorcher seems to be very nice for sorcerers...

But invisibility is best. The only second level spell I know that is forbidden in many campaigns.

Blur for that anti-sneak attack action,
Cat's Grace for the enhanced AC

But I've noticed Web is the show stopper in all of our campaigns. It will literally stop a bunch of beasties in there tracks when used properly.

I just couldn't do without mirror image.

My rogue/Wizard was once out scouting while the party was recouping and investigating a magical seal. I stumbled upon a group of bugbears that were trying to sneak up on the party.

I cast Alter Self (changed into a drow, we were underground))

Shadow Conjuration (summon moster, drow).
And mirror image.

I ambushed the 20+ bugbears as I was an entire drow raiding party.

After foru rounds of combat they broke and ran (failed morale).

Yes this was an old 2E game. But I've just had such a soft spot in heart for Mirror image ever since.
