Your favorite comic book writers

I agree with a lot of the writers and runs mentioned above. Busiek probably gets my vote because of his work on Astro City.

Stan Sakai for Usagi Yojimbo. He's produced consistantly brilliant work, on time, for a number of years.

Willingham... eh. He starts good, has good ideas, but he always winds up self-destructing the book if he goes for too long. (I'm aware that the sad lingerie-clad travesty Elementals became was not his fault). Pantheon was an OK book, but was a limited series. I strongly suspect he really does hate the superhero genre and does what he can to destroy it from within, like a termite. I fear for what he will do to Robin. Hopefully that fear will be unfounded.

Stan Sakai-Usagi Yojimbo rocks!

Terry Moore-SIP-the only comic my wife will read

Alan Moore (no relation :p)-Swamp Thing, Watchmen

Jeph Loeb-Batman Long Halloween, Dark Victory

Chris Claremont (he writes X-treme X-Men? I've been avoiding it because of the title, but I guess I'll have to pick up an issue or two.)-Uncanny X-men

Neil Gaiman-Sandman

Mike Carey-Lucifer

Chuck Dixon-Robin

Devin Grayson-Robin

Kurt Busiek-Astro City

Mark Waid-Kingdom Come

Jeff Smith, Bone is easily my favorite comic. Try it out here.

I'll also mention Bendis, but for Powers. The man does things no one else would consider trying and makes them work well.

Michael J. Strazynsky: Rising Stars.

If you haven't done so yet, go pick up Midnight Nation

MJS got left off the same list for his lateness of Rising Stars. :(

I believe it was someone here who said the delay is due to some problem between him and Top Cow.

Jeph Loeb, Daredevil: Yellow, Spiderman: Blue, the recent run on Batman

Are you reading Hulk Grey?

John Byrne - The Fantastic Four, Next Men, Superman
Alan Moore - The Watchmen, V for Vendetta
Frank Miller - The Dark Knight Returns, Daredevil, Sin City
J.M Dematteis & Keith Giffen - The Justice League International(America/Europe)
Katsuhiro Ottomo - Akira
Walt Simonson - Thor
Stan Lee - Spider Man
Neil Gaimen - The Sandman
Kurt Busiek - Marvels
John Ostrander - Suicide Squad

Gaiman. How I forgot him in the other thread I do not know, but I have been consistently blown away by his skill.

Claremont. He has had some really bland stories from time to time, but over all he's drafted up some of the finest moments in the X-Men.

John Byrne. Especially his She-Hulk days. I know, I need help. :)

Jim Lee. I know, he's really an artist, but I have always been a fan of his style, and the plots he develops, even when its another writer doing the actual scripting.
