I don't consider Wheel of Time a campaign setting, but I'm currently playing one game RL, and one PBP, so I"d probable put it high on my list. It really is a great game.

What kind of setting is Spelljammer?

It's D&D in space. The setting material posits a Prime Material Plane in which star systems are encased in invulnerable crystal spheres, which themselves bob like corks in a "river" of incredibly flammable stuff known as phlogiston. It was possible to take a ship from Krynnspace to Oerth in Greyspace to Toril in Realmspace, for instance.

The styles of ships ranged from seagoing craft fitted with a spelljamming helm to dwarven citadels carved out of asteroids and powered by the forges within. Spelljamming helms were the engines of the ship, and worked by draining a caster's spell capability for the day to provide magical propulsion. Each ship was exposed to space, but each spacegoing body brought with itself a small envelope of air. Ships brought big envelopes, enough to allow the maximum crew compliment to survive for several months between landings. All in all, a cool setting. Especially considering the mind flayers and beholders had space presences. Imagine having to deal with a ship full of ticked-off beholders!

WoTC does fully support Greyhawk. Don't you remember at the beginning of 3E all of the statements that this was the world they were going to support and be damned with the others. Oh well it is just another broken promise.

Never said it, but oh well...

As for me, My two faves would have to be Dark Sun (for the coolness factor), and then Dragonlance. It's just been a good month all around for me, hasn't it?? :)

As a DM:
1. My hombrew setting
2. Dark Sun
3. Forgotten Realms

As a Player:
1. Greyhawk
2. Scarred Lands
3. Forgotten Realms
