Oh, I completely forgot something:

The greatest lightsaber duel in the history of everything is, in fact, Yoda and Darth Maul vs. General Grievous, from "Lego Star Wars: the Video Game".

Well, if we're counting EU, how's about Vader vs. Maul in that comic book I forgot the name?

Did they have comedy moustaches? If not, I don't think it can be considered a serious contender for the title. :)

That one's straight from Lucas. :) He's stated multiple times that the cybernetics limit one's ability to use the Force, thus weakening Vader and making him controllable for the Emperor.

...

Its not that Vader is weak, but instead weaker than he was before the cybernetics. He was the Chosen One, the strongest Jedi ever to exist. We saw him at the height of his power in RotS, but that was really it. After that point, he's got the cybernetics and his strength in the Force drops.

I suppose the midichlorians have something to do with it. I know a lot of people hate the concept, but it makes sense here. Vader has lost a good deal of his body, which means he's got less midichlorians. It makes sense that he would be weaker than he was in the Force previously.

The Return of the Jedi fight is still my all time favorite. Movie duels should have dialogue, and not be simple martial arts demonstrations. There are others that might be more technically impressive, but this is the only one with intrinsic dramatic weight.

Hmmm, a rarity... I like Obi Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader best.

But then I have liked the late Sir Alec Guinness since long before Star Wars: A New Hope.

I think the general argument is that midichlorians respond to the level of the Force in someone, not the other way around (ie. midichlorians don't create the Force, they just show up when it is there).

Obiwan/Maul/Qui-Gon was technically the coolest of the fights, but at the end of the day I really didn't care what happened to any of those characters, plus it had a gimp ending.

I agree with that point, at least in regards to QuiGon and Maul, though maybe not Obi wan. Botton line is, the consequences of that fight were hardly up there with Luke vrs Vader in ESB.
