Your favorite place to buy individual miniatures

masque

First Post
You see, I'm buying a birthday present for my DM, who is absolutely addicted to miniatures. I've never paid much attention to them, so I don't know where to buy them. I'd ask someone in my group, but the only person who knows about them is... the DM, and I'd rather not tip him off.

So if anyone could tell me about internet storefronts that they've had good experiences with for individual minis, I'd be grateful. (For Wizard's minis) It would also help if they had at least one of the huge dragons, the dire wolf, or the rakshasa in stock (because even though my DM is a really cool guy, I must really hate my character :heh: ).

Thanks for the recommendations.

I usually buy my minis at my FLGS- Generation X (Bedford, Tx), Lone Star Comics (Irving, Tx), and Game Chest (Dallas, Tx).

However, I buy minis online from one and only one place:

They're good people with good customer service and a fairly large selection.

For single DnD minis, you can go to google (which will list the top 4-5 sites for you, and you'll need to look at different shops if you want to look for a bargain on a particular piece or two... and watch out for some of their shipping and handling!)

Alternatively, Ebay is your best bet. Pick and choose, plus people don't try to turn a profit on the shipping costs, as most dealers will send you a copy of the receipt for shipping, so there's nobody getting screwed over. You pay exactly what you should.

Gamechest in Dallas does have a nice selection -- but that probably won't help you much, but I used to buy mine from the FLGS that closed near my house. Online I purchased some minis directly from reaper miniatures when I couldn't find a specific couple I was looking for.

I was quite pleased with the response time and service -- and they had the female human fighter with the great axe that was necessary for the new member of the home game...

I can google easily enough, true, but I'm looking for sites that people here have had good experiences with. Google would have a hard time telling me that. I've been burned too many times on internet transactions to just google for a shop.

Albino Rhino

Dragglestown

AR you can use Paypal, there selection is sometimes wonky, slim

Draggles will sometimes have holes in inventory. Depends on what your looking for.

Ive had a few TERRIBLE interactions with NewWave and since then havent used them for over 2 years or more. I literally had 3 minis show up 6-8 months after the order was put in, and no one I ever contacted gave a damn. But hey maybe thats changed. Im not in a hurry to find out.

Reaper Miniatures

Try the Reaper website and look into the Warlord series. They have to be the best miniatures I've seen. I normally use Warhammer mini's, but the Warlord series out does everything I've seen.

No NewWave

Yes, whatever you do, DO NOT buy from NewWave. There are countless stories of customers being ripped off by them as well as plenty of unresolved complaints against them through the Better Business Bureau.

Trust me- I've been burned by them as well!

Cheap, fast, and easy to phone or email and get a reply from. Last time I talked to them on the phone, I got them at home from the sounds of it - which to me shows a small dedicated business with a strong sense of customer devotion.

Do NOT use new wave. They still me a mini I ordered in 2000, and they've probably got the longest file with the BBB than anyody else in Florida... (or did they relocate?)

They rarely ship anything unusual, and will take orders on stock they not only do not have, but have no means of getting - not only take orders, but charge them when they take the order rather than when they ship, because thay have no plans to ever actually ship.
