Your game stuff & what you do with it

sniffles

First Post
Okay, to expose my ultimate geekiness to the ENworld:
I used to keep all my character sheets in one binder, separated by tabs. But as we added more and more campaigns to our gaming schedule, I found that all the sheets, notes, and other errata filled the binder to bursting. Gradually I split all the information up until I reached the point of having a separate binder for each character. They're color-coded so I can locate the desired binder quickly.

At the same time I began to find more and more attractive sets of dice and dice bags. I went from using just one set for everything to having a different set for each character. They're also color-coded in a sense. The dice and bags don't necessarily match each other or the character binder they go with, but they are coded - for example, the red dice bag full of blue dice goes with the blue binder. The most extreme case is a Champions character I run occasionally: her name is Shocking Pink, and I have a pink binder and pink dice in a pink bag. :D

Anyone else this ridiculously anal? What do you do with your character sheets? Binders, a clipboard, print a new sheet every session, loose sheets in the back of your PHB, keep your character record in your laptop or PDA?

My character sheets, game notes, and printed material is in various notebooks, piles of paper in the gameroom, stuck in the back of books, and stuffed into a few different game bags. I'd say I'm the most disorganized player/DM I know when it comes to keeping track of stuff once it's been used in a game.

I for one think it's ridiculously anal, but I can sympathyze - I'm often ridiculously anal myself. :) I run a campaign with two players, who each run two PCs each, so at the end of the adventure I just put all of the PC sheets back in our single campaign binder, which also has a "dead PCs" section in the back, and a place to store all of the maps that the players have sketched out thus far (very handy for when they want to revisit an area they've explored several adventures ago).

I've only recently started playing in tournaments at my local gaming store, and thus far I've only accumulated two PCs of my own. Thus far, they just stay as loose sheets in a backpack, but eventually I'll probably stick them in separate pocket folders.

As far as dice, I just have the same pool of mismatched dice for all of my characters, whether I'm DMing or playing a PC.

Well I have seperate dice for playing and DMing.
I use seperated mechanical pencils for playing and DMing.
Each Character I play has its own folder.
Each Campaign I have run has its folder/file
I have a Dice Bag of Holding (from Gamer's Bag) for all the extra dice I might need occasionaly rather than use the Box O' Dice I own which is for anyone else to use.

I don't think your anal about it at all ;)

I see your anal geekness and raise you one...

Each campaign world I develop has it's own 3 ring, loose leaf, "view binder" (the kind with the clear plastic cover you can insert a piece of paper into). Inside the plastic is a wrap around cover image geared to the campaign and displaying the game and campaign title.

The first interior "page" of the loose leaf is a clear sleeve with a cover image, title and is printed on slightly thicker weight paper. Past that are color coded A-Z dividers. Each and every major entry is listed alphabetically and accompanied by an illustration. This includes every character, monster/creature, major magic item or device and locale. House rules are usually kept in a section right before that with seperate color-coded dividers, but sometimes they are intergrated into the alphabetical listings. Often the most important entries (both rules and elements of the campaign) are in a clear plastic sleeve containing an image on the front (right hand pages) and the stats on the back (left hand pages).

The entire thing is then placed inside one of those canvas binder holders (like a book jacket for loose leaf binders). I prefer the old ones that are no longer made, as the new ones come with a loose leaf attached to the inside which you can't remove.

All maps, CDs and related material are stored in the binder or it's cover.

If you think I have too much time on my hands, that's not it. I'm simply obsessive. And I don't sleep. I've found that asleep I get very little done.

I use book report covers for the player character sheets. Included are a few sheets of paper (for notes) and a graph paper (for maps).

For my GM notes I keep everyone organized using MyInfo 3.5. I also have a GM binder to keep handouts and some NPC's.

The closest I come to any of this is that I have a special set of bone colored dice I use exclusively for when I am rolling for an undead creature.
