Your least favourite setting

Of settings I've actually bought, Forgotten Realms. I can just never get 'into' it, the feel of it leaves me cold. A friend once called it "Elminster's oul' rectum" (apply Irish accent here) :) and that about sums it up for me.
I don't like Spelljammer, but I never bought it so that's ok.

Despite the "Almost... but not quite" feeling I get from Eberron, Dragonlance and Greyhawk, it is definitely Forgotten Realms I dislike the most. No setting I have ever read is so bland!

Sovereign Stone. We played it for one session. The whole premise is that every single race hates each other. Passsionately. It's very, very hard to play in a world where everyone hates you. Also hard to have a diverse party because nobody trusts each other.

I'm spoiled for choice. I'm pretty sure it's Spelljammer, because it's just too Out There. On the other hand, Dragonlance has a lot to answer for: Kinder, armageddons-a-go-go, to cite a couple of examples.

But it's not a two-horse race. Oh no. Forgotten Realms. If only they would be. And Greyhawk has to get an honourable mention, just for having some of the silliest place names I've ever heard. And that's saying something, because the others I've mentioned give GH a good run for its money in that regard.

To be honest though, I would define my favourite setting as the one that had the dubious quality of irritating me the least.

Good question! I haven't played a huge variety of settings of those that I have played my least favourites (in order)

Ravenloft (great single module! Simply terrible as a campaign world)
Dragonlance (again started out good, quickly fell into abyssmal)

err, I don't have strong enough feelings about any other settings (that i have played mind you) to say i 'hate' them. I've played in terrific Forgotten Relams campaigns (those that kept the major NPCs out of the game completely and let the PCs be the real heroes) as well as Known World, Scarred Lands, Greyhawk, the Traveller universe, Dragonstar (really liked that ones' take on a universe ruled by magic and Dragons!). Not a big fan of World of Darkness (mainly due to angsty Vampire players/GMs) but the new 'rules only' rulebook interests me.

I'd have to say Dark Sun. I prefer a land with variety...swamps, jungles, plains, mountains, etc. One big parched desert-like world didn't keep my interest for long.
