You're a gamer???

I found out my girlfriend is a gamer.. we had taken a break after high school where she was the popular blond type, during the break she had played D&D, magic, vampire masqueraded (LARP style) and WoW. Never thought I would see the day. Now she want to play with me, but because I am the DM I do not think it be fair for my players to have my girlfriend playing.

Having a gf or so at the table can work too. Somebody just posted in another thread that his wife DMs and that he has a high character mortality rate. I've seen it work and I've seen it not work. It just depends on the social dynamic at the game and the DM's approach.

Thanks,
Rich

Dude, you're missing a golden opportunity: do a 1 PC game with her! You can shower attention on her, make her feel magical and special, and have a creative life TOGETHER.

That and clothing is optional if it's just the two of you.

Wow, sounds cool. I'm hoping for that sort of thing when I go to Bath for university!

In America, we are encouraged allowed to wash before going to university. Sorry, bad joke.

Anyway, I've been to Bath...absolutely gorgeous city! If you haven't already, make certain you take the tour of the Roman baths. And of course, Stonehenge is right down the road from you (SW) and Glastonbury SE of Bath.

Enjoy yourself!!!

Thanks,
Rich

Precisely. Plus, I totally would have killed the one kid's PC and stolen his stuff.

At least they would have learned the true meaning of D&D.

Nah, better you passed on that opportunity.

I agree with Piratecat! I've played in games GM'd by my fiancee and my best friend, and other friends regularly GMs games that includes their wives. The only way it wouldn't be fair is if you give her special advantages over the other players in-game.

Not long ago I made a reference to rolling my lucky d6 for something at work, and one of my coworkers who knows I game commented that he was surprised I didn't say lucky d20. When I asked him how he knew about d20 he admitted he'd done his time at the gaming table when he was younger, which surprised me because I just didn't think it was something that would interest him.

I don't fit the mold at all. You wouldn't imagine the brouhaha when I made the mistake of having Amazon ship my gaming materials to my office. The office manager opened the package and my assistant handed the materials to me. Soon after the entire office was at my door with perplexed looks on their faces asking me about it. Uncomfortable to say the least.

I'm a financial planner so most days I'm either in a suit talking to clients about their wealth or in my office reviewing the markets and writing financial plans. Not the most common place to find a gamer.

Well, i've been to baths and Baths, and I found that quite amusing.

Most of the people I game with seem to belong to that "stealth" don't-look-like-gamers-or-at-them-either types, so I can't really comment on the topic.

The Chief of Police in my hometown, way back when i was cutting my teeth on AD&D.

A Helm of Opposite Alignment turned one of his PCs into the sneakiest, vilest, secretive, most bloodsoaked and selfishly evil character I have ever been stuck in a party with.

I have always been very thankful he's one of the good guys in real life...

I've never met in person anyone I was surprised to find out was a gamer... mainly because I've never met any gamers in person, period, other than the clerks at the FLGS. :(

As for me, I also fall under the category of "People you wouldn't think were gamers/geeks." Probably because I have this sort of conservative, well-groomed office secretary look to me. Or as one person alternatively put forth, I look kind of like a "non-scary Catholic nun".

Peace & Luv, Liz

Absolutely, you should include her in the games if she is interested. It would be unfair not to include her.

...and this is exactly why you should include her, Tomovasky. That's like free kudos, dude. :D

Seriously though, you should include her. I run a solo game for my wife and she plays in the group games I run as well.
