Seeing Tommy dig the sleep from the corners of his eyes, Billy decides the intern might just make it after all. He doubts that Tommy heard what he just said, though, so he repeats himself: "Come on, Claudia, uh, Tommy, pull it together, man! I need for you to go check around the station and even outside and find me some clues to what just happened. Do that for me and we'll go try to scrounge some breakfast, ok?"

[sblock=OOC for Yttermayn]I loved the Claudia story! Had me laughing like crazy! "Meaty slap" indeed! :heh:[/sblock]

. . . . One was perfect though. One tile out of perhaps four hundred. Jorge found himself drawn to it. He focused on it, and everything else went away. The one tile seemed huge and it filled Jorge's perception. Then, it fractured. The loud snapping sound brought Jorge back to himself in the shower. He could not find one perfect tile, but he did find one that bore a peculiar spider-web shaped pattern of cracks in it that he hadn't noticed before.

Jorge reached down and started picking at the spider web tile to see if it was loose, Thogh he was fairly strung enough to jump if any thing came out of it. like a spider, or something.

It took only a moment of prying with a fingernail, and one of the shards of tile came out easily. Jorge brought it close to his face to examine it in the dim, filtered light of the shower stall. The break was spotlessly clean, showing it to be fresh. Something else about it bothered Jorge though. The edges of the break appeared to be perfectly smooth, not like the rough grain of broken tile he'd expected at all.
Billy watched as Tommy finally nodded his head in acknowledgement, and then tossed on his coat and headed towards the exit. Back on the call screeners desk, Billy saw the flashing red light that meant there was an incoming call.

The currently playing song nearing its end, Billy allows the phone to ring twice more and then he answers it on the air: "Hey, Fellow Baby, you got the Rock Doc Jock on the Block! Tell the Doctor now, where does it hurt?"

Jorge' tests the wall behind where the tile was to see if there wanything unusual. If there is, he will dry of hurridly and recloth hiumslef, and investgate further.

If not he will look at the tile and se if it will come apart where the strange cracks are.

Joe stood for a long moment, the parts of his brain responsible for processing visual information working overtime to give the rest of his mind an idea of just what the hell he was looking at. Joe took a few steps toward what could only be a corpse. There was a line. Not drawn or painted, not some artificial graffiti of human invention. The line extended under the body of the shooting victim and beyond, trailing up the side of a building at a skewed angle. Coming closer, he saw that it wasn't just a line, it was as if the earth had shifted a centimeter or so along a fault line. An earthquake? He thought for a moment, but a better look at the body disproved that theory quickly. The 'fault line' had also sheared the shooting victim.
Jorge tried to pry more pieces of the tile up off the floor. He felt the shard next to the first one start to come up, then a sharp pain a few seconds later. He quickly pulled his hand away. Blood was rapidly oozing out of a slice in his fingertip. It looked deep. He realized he hadn't felt the tile move at all, it had been the flesh of his finger parting against the edge of the tile that his brain had understood as movement. 'So sharp...' he thought.

Jorge' gets out of the shower, and washes his finger off to get an idea of how deep the cut was, glancing back to see if he can spot what had cut him.

Joe shakes his head as he looks at the corpse, trying to determine the extent of the damage suffered by the victim from this odd 'line'.

Jorge inspected the wound. The slice went deeper than skin and into the fat layer; he could see the white tissue when he lifted the thick flap of skin. The wound quickly refilled with blood, and rinsing it out in the sink stung like a bitch. When finished, Jorge knelt down and looked more closely at the shards of the star shaped break in the tile. The one he'd pried had a thin slick of blood on it. Jorge also thought he could see something else. In the dark of his shadow, he thought he could see a shimmer of violet the shade of an electric arc. The color formed a faint nimbus right on the broken edges of the tile. On his knees and looking closely, Jorge's exhaled breath passed over the tile edges and for a moment the nimbus grew brighter, then faded away. No amount of blowing on them brought it back.

Blood was pooling around the homeless shooting victim, but it wasn't coming from the holes Joe and Roman had patched up. The 'fault' line across his body was seeping out onto the street. Closer now, Joe could see the edges of lacerated flesh and clothing. It was as if the man had been cut clean in two by a blade of infinite thinness, then pushed back together inexpertly and just a little off. The plane of the cut was at a seemingly random angle across his torso, starting at the waist on his left side and ending just a few ribs down from the right armpit.
