Zagig Spells

Man-thing

First Post
I was reading through Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk and I got stuck on Zagig. If he was one of the greatest adventuring mages of all times how come there are no Zagig name spells. Or are there?

I don't think that there are, though named spells in D&D/AD&D seem to almost soley be the providence of former player characters who later became NPCs -- a kind of 'easter egg' for Gary's players (much like the crazy anagram names). So far as I know, EGG's Zagig or Zygag has always been an NPC, which may account of the lack of named spells. The name is, obviously, a reference to the GM who created him ;)

I'd have to check the 2e wizard's spell compendium but I thought there was one or two for him, something to do with wild magic.

I don't know of any 1e spells that bear the name of Zagig/Zagyg/Xagy/etc. Wild magic spells could certainly be appropriate for the Mad Archmage, too, so do please chime in with what you find Voadam!

Upon ascension, all such spells became public domain and lost the right to use his name.

Just like Boccobs Teleport, or Wee Jas' Limited Wish.

Turns out I have the Magic Items Compendium, so after checking last night, there are several Zagig/Zagyg magic items, but I don't own the spells book, so I can't validate there.
