The new cosmology almost reminds me of Glorantha. IIRC, it was a flat world and if you kept traveling in one direction (up, down, north, south, ...) long enough you ended up in a different plane. Fun!

It's also closer to the concept of Ars Magica's regiones or the WoD Umbra. All in all, for D&D it's fresh enough that I may actually use it as written - which would be a first

On the other hand, it's apparently the Feywild that people take "jaunts" to in order to get around obstacles on the Prime Material (hey, I bet that term's gone, right?).

Technically, the term "Prime Material" was removed in 3rd edition. It was always just the "material plane" in 3rd.

That being said, in Worlds and Monsters, they do confirm that it's just "the world" in 4th edition.

I doubt it. Demiplanes can still exist. Just as in the Expanded Psionics Handbook, they would be found in the astral sea.

Unless they create them in the Astral Sea. Remember, that place has room for anything. Which is it's biggest strength over the Great Wheel, in my opinion: It's not built around an obsessive-compulsive ideal of symmetry, so can contain all the planes you want and none of the planes you don't.

There really isn't anything the preview books that address this one way or another. I can still see them designing spells or rituals that would allow for little pocket dimensions and extradimensional spaces.

Bags of holding have to have someplace to store all that stuff, right?

And you can have all sorts Dominions floating around in the Astral Sea, as the people above me mentioned. You can pretty much put whatever you want in there.

It's certainly true for stuff that WOTC released. 3rd party stuff is a different matter of course.
