Zombie caught in a briar web

First Post
In our last game our spirit shaman cast briar web on two zombies. They can only take partial actions but it's a full round action to try to escape.

The way I handled it was I gave them an escape attempt every 2 rounds while the party just pelted them with everything they had.

Was this the right thing to do. Should they have taken damage each round instead of when they failed every-other round?

Any ideas. I figured this was a rule question and not a house-rule question...

Literally speaking of partial actions, 3.0 has a "start full round action" partial (3.0 PHB p. 127) which lets you do just that, a full-round action every 2 rounds. Not sure exactly the deal in 3.5.

3.5 SRD:
Start/Complete Full-Round Action
The “start full-round action” standard action lets you start undertaking a full-round action, which you can complete in the following round by using another standard action. You can’t use this action to start or complete a full attack, charge, run, or withdraw.

Seems to still work ;)

Excellent!

Nice to know when I rule off the top of my head that I've hit upon the rule. Wonder where it might reside in the PHB... *edit* pg 142..
