Zombies and Crooks (DM:Mal Malenkirk Judge: Covaithe )

DM Errata

Montroya : actually, you missed the Spider Zombie. You rolled 15 and its reflex is 17. And that means the SZ didn't take 4 point of damage form OAing Matlal.

Just pointing out that I based my rolls of my of IC notes. It was noted that the spider was targeted first and the reflex targeted was 18. Click on the IC link and you should see. Sorry I put it the other way around in my post, if that is what the confusion was. :blush:[/sblock]

[sblock=Montroya - Heart of Darkness]
And now my turn for a oops :blush:

It suddenly occured to me that I never rewarded your excellent skills checks to gain information about the Heart of Darkness, even though I intended to...

The Heart of Darkness

Montroya knows the name from one source only; He remembers having read it on the index of the Light Forsaken Codex. He knows nothing more than the name.

The index is known to several faithful of Apoli but the content of the Codex itself is absolutely forbidden knowledge, guarded by the Keepers of Light. They claim that the knowledge alone of such things can corrupt the minds. The novices and faithful who are shown the index are simply told that should they glean information on one of the objects or subjects on the index, they should inform the Keepers of Light as soon as possible.

The Keepers of Light are a militant sect composed of faithful of Apoli in all his forms; many members are imperial believers of Phoebus and some of even more exotic incarnations of the Bringer of Light. The only keeper of light that Montroya ever met (The one who showed him the index) was a frighteningly intense individual. They oppose darkness mercilessly and are not averse to collateral damage for the greater good.

Mesa moved through the knee-high sewer water, trying deperately not to think about what he was actually wading through at the moment. Reaching the entrance up into the morgue, he grabbed a rope and said, "Let's go see if our friends need help, yes?"

[sblock=Mal]You forgot to move on the map from last round. I should be at H3. Do you just want me to post as if I was there so you don't have make a new map?[/sblock]

[sblock=Montroya]
Err...

1 - I didn't see the move until I just reread the entry. My bad, of course, but it's easier for me if you detach clearly the action. I sometime miss the fine prints.

2 - That move wasn't quite possible. You can't cut corners across walls or obstacles (which I assume is how you thought you could reach H3). PHB p.283

You have to move D4,D5,E5,F5,F4,F3

That means you would have had to stop at F3, two squares short of H3.

That also means a OA from Z3 when you moved through F5 (which I now see you referred to in your post and therefore should have rolled).

OA (1d20+6=24, 2d6+2=10)

Montroya : 6/26 bloodied

The zombie can only take the extra damage from vanguard lightning once and it is already accounted in his status.

[sblock=Mal]I'll seperate my actions from now to make it easier for you. I guess I was thinking the pink squares were mobile and weren't blocking terrain like a corner of a wall. No matter. By the way: OUCH![/sblock]

The deva shouts, "Back zombie, by the power of Apoli!" Holy light washes over the undead. The deva calls on memories to aim the blast a little lower than he normally would. The undead disentigrates in the holy light, reduced to a pile of dust. "That works too!" The deva, heavily wounded retreats to the back corner of the room.

[sblock=Actions]
Standard: Rebuke Undead vs Z3. rebuke undead vs Z3 (1d20+4=9, 1d10+4=13) That misses, but I'll use memory of a thousand lifetimes(free action). That makes it hit, since all I needed was a one more. 13 damage plus the zombie's vulnurability to radiant damage kill it.
Move: Move to D3.[/sblock]

Jarel-karn mark the zombie fighting against Matlal and move next to the Spider zombie to confine it in his corner, but instead to hit it, he prefer to take a defensive stance and wait for the reinforcement he hears from the sewers.

Matlal's ferocity temporarily abates as he regains his composure and takes notice of his wounds and breathes deeply, giving his body time to rest. He crouches low as he stalks around the zombie, waiting for the proper time to strike.
