Zones and forced movement

If I create a zone (say with Hunger of Hadar), and then pop an action point to move an enemy into the zone, do they take damage for entering the zone, and at the beginning of their turn? If other PCs then move the mob in and out of the zone again, does the mob take damage every time it enters the zone?

From what I understand RAW says the mob does take damage on enter and start of turn, but that seems potentially abusive. We've already started setting up ways to make a zone and keep enemies in it, being able to move them in and out generates a lot of damage very quickly.

It can get a lot worse than that ... let's say a mob is standing next to the edge of the zone, and you get to slide it 5 squares.
You can make it go in, out, in, out, in.
Then it gets a turn.

I wouldn't call it abusive, but clever. It's not only a viable tactic, it's a tactic that requires team play (Action Points notwithstanding). That's always good.

Thought slide allowed you to move a creature in any one direction...

Push requires you to move the opponent away from you at each step. Pull requires you to move the opponent towards you at each step. But Slide lets you move the opponent through unoccupied squares in any way you like.

Slide: There is no restriction on the direction you can move the target. You cannot slide a creature vertically. (So I guess there actually is a restriction...)

Since "the direction" is singular and not the directions plural, I believe you can't do a push-pull dance on a slide.

More precisely in my game push is away from you, pull is towards you, and slide is any single vector, you choose specific squares though. Whether that is RAW, RAI, or totally wrong won't change the table rules. ;)
