  • Yet more rumors of events in Saerloon are circulating in Suzail.

The latest clack involves a collection of stolen plays belonging to the famed performer Taumpras Irorlar of Saerloon. Among his collection were original copies of Hawksoun's Many Musings and A Belt of Stars: Plays for Players. A loss such as this might go unnoticed but for long swirling rumors that Taumpras kept copies of potent spells hidden among his books of plays, which he occasionally sold to fund his traveling troupe of players and laborers in Sembia.

One dark rumor that has passed from Saerloon to Suzail claims certain Sembian nobles gather once a year to commemorate the murder of Haelta “Johannes” Jauhanneszlan, the onetime Lord Governor of Saerloon. The commemoration of Haelta’s death, capped by a reenactment of her murder at the hands of noble-bought assassins, is roundly enjoyed, according to certain loose-lipped nobles’ servants.

Whispers passed between those same servants claim Haelta was eager to offer herself to the surviving Netherese who avoided Thultanthar’s demise, and by extension offer Searloon as a safe haven where the Shadovar could regroup and renew their empire.

What few folk realize, say these rumors, is that Haelta devoted herself to secreting away vast wealth plundered from “disloyal” Sembians, and even from the vaults of temples in Saerloon sacked by the Netherese! To this she added confiscated magic and mundane weapons. Just where this arsenal of potent magic and hidden wealth is located remains a mystery. The mystery remains a hotly debated topic among Saerloon’s high houses, who compete with each other through hired adventurers and agents to find the missing loot.

Elsewhere in Suzail, Sentever Orlabar, owner of Sentever’s Outfitters (a “last stop” outfitter of wares and supplies for travelers exiting nearby Horngate) was struck speechless at the arrival of a lone pack mule carrying goods on its back. According to Sentever, the mule walked through the front door of his shop and announced in perfectly understandable Common that it was to be unloaded "as quick as possible."
